Balinese Watch on the American Elections
Join a Day Long Election Watch Party on Wednesday, November 5, 2008 in Bali.
(11/1/2008) In response to the unprecedented interest in the current U.S. elections by expatriate residents in Bali and local Indonesians, a day long party to monitor the race for the U.S. Presidency will be held in Bali from 8 a.m. until 8 p.m. on Wednesday, November 5, 2008.
A popular entertainment venue on the island - The Sector Bar & Restaurant at the BaliBeach Golf Course in Sanur will be transformed to resemble a U.S. political convention replete with red, white and blue bunting and balloons; election posters, actors on stilts portraying 'Uncle Sam'; and a special menu of American-style food and drink offerings. Large screen TV coverage providing live coverage of the U.S. elections, a mock-election allowing party-goers the chance to vote for the next U.S. leader, door prizes and raffles are just some of the other attractions on tap for those who join the festivities.
Organized by Bali Discovery Events – a leading Bali-based event organizer, the event is open to anyone interested in joining in the excitement of watching the U.S. select the next occupant of the White House. John Daniels, the President Director of Bali Discovery said, "We hope Indonesians, Balinese and the many nationalities who live and holiday in Bali will join the party on November 5th."
Daniels also said that careful coordination with local security teams from Sector Bar & Restaurant and the adjoining Grand Bali Beach Hotel, together with Bali Bali police officials is in place to ensure that participants will enjoy a peaceful and secure day of fun while following the election results.
Local companies have donated over 100 door prizes and raffle items which will be given away during the event that starts at 8 p.m. and will run until 8 p.m. that evening while participants follow the live election results broadcast over CNN.
Admission is free with food and bar service available on a cash basis.
